About the Community Chess Club of Rochester (CCCR)

Welcome! Whether you’re new to chess or a seasoned player, our club offers a welcoming environment to play, learn, and compete.

Weekly Chess Events

We host USCF-rated games every Wednesday and Saturday at the Rochester Chess Center, located at 221 Norris Drive, Rochester, NY 14610.

  • Monday (7:00 PM – 10:00 PM): Seasonal team-based tournament.

  • Wednesday (7:30 PM – 10:00 PM): Single-round tournament, beginner-friendly. Entry fee is $6 (or $4 for CCCR members).

  • Saturday (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM): Youth tournament for players under 18. Entry fee is $7 per session.

  • Saturday (2:00 PM – 8:00 PM): Multi-round tournament open to all ages. Entry fee is $21.

Equipment (chess sets, boards, clocks) is provided by the Chess Center. Snacks and beverages are available on-site.

How to Join

Joining CCCR is easy! Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Visit the Rochester Chess Center on a Wednesday evening.

  2. Join the United States Chess Federation (USCF).

    Membership fees range from $20 to $45 annually. Join USCF here.

  3. Register for the tournament between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM.

Our Rich History

The CCCR has been a vital part of Rochester’s chess community for decades. We are proud to have founded the annual Marchand Chess Tournament, one of the largest in the region.

We also participate in tournaments such as the Can-Am in Buffalo and the New York State Championship in Albany.
